Maura Hallisey is a senior captain for the Connecticut College track and field team. Hallisey has been honored on the NESCAC All-Academic Team seven times during her career in cross country and track and field and is looking forward to this weekend's Silfen Invitational.
What are your thoughts about hosting the final home invitational of your career Saturday?
I am super excited for the home meet. It's definitely one of my favorite days of the year. Especially as a senior it means a lot to run it in for four years and have this be one of our bigger meets and have our friends and family come and watch. It's great be able to compete where we train every day.
What do you like most about competing as a student athlete at Connecticut College?
Some of my best friends have been made through joining the team, from cross country and track. We're all a really close group and that's something I'll miss when I graduate.
The Connecticut College Coaches, both paid and volunteer really dedicate a lot of their time and mean a lot to this program's success. Can you tell me what the coaching staff means to you?
We would not be the team that we are without the work of Hope (McCarty) or Matt (Dyer) and Laura (Nadelberg) in throwing. We're really great for all of the volunteer help we get. It's hard to volunteer. Ned (Bishop), our head coach, Coach Butler and all of the coaches put in so much effort and we really appreciate that.
What event will you be running this weekend?
I will be competing in the steeplechase event which is by far my favorite event ever.
