Pevear Garners All-New England Division III Honors in the Discus for the Camels

WATERVILLE, Maine.--Sophomore Sam Pevear (Somersworth, N.H.) threw the discus 123 feet, 10 inches at the New England Division III Championship hosted by Colby College this weekend. Pevear garnered All-New England Division III accolades by placing eighth in the event.

The Camels did have some other strong performances at the Championship. In the 4x800 meter relay, the Camel quartet consisting of senior Sarah Matthews (Westwood, Mass.), Michelle Wesley (N.Y.), Caroline Leonard (Hingham, Mass.) and Maura Hallisey (Wethersfield, Conn.) posted an outdoor season best time of 9:49.90 en route to a ninth place showing. 

Matthews set another personal record with a time of 2:17.71 in the 800 meter run, finishing in 11th place for Connecticut College.

In the 3000 meter steeplechase, Hallisey finished 13th with a personal record setting time of 12:00.90 for the Camels. 

Emily Winter (Easton, Conn.) posted a time of 12:14.83 in the steeplechase. In the 5000 meter run, Arianna Beers (Fayetteville, N.Y.) posted a season-best time of 18:23.33.

In the 10000 meter run, Sarah Huckins (Henniker, N.H.) and Nicole Adam (Cheshire, Conn.) finished with respective times of 41:53.36 and 42:13.43 for Connecticut College.
