Kennedy Shatters School Record in Shot Put for Camels at Bowdoin Invitational

BRUNSWICK, Maine.--Lauren Kennedy (Longmeadow, Mass.) shattered a school record in the shot put at the Bowdoin College Invitational Saturday, placing fourth with a throw of 37 feet, 11.5 inches.

With her mark, Kennedy earned an invitation to the New England Division III Championship.

The Camel women placed sixth in the 10 team field with a score of 34 points.

Junior Bella Franz (Pictured, Water Mill, N.Y.) cruised to a victory in the 1000 meters, posting a time of 2:58.58. It was the second fastest time in program history. Franz has qualified for the New England Division, the Eastern College Athletic Conference as well as the All-New England (D. 1, 2, 3) Championships. In the one-mile run, junior Ashley Curran (Franklin, Mass.) had her ticket stamped for the New England Division III Championship with a third place finish in 5:19.42.  

Senior Nicole Adam (Cheshire, Conn.) set a personal record in the 5000 meters, posting a time of 19:15.00 in a fourth place showing for the Camels. Also, in the 5k, Micaela Nee (Hanover, Mass.) placed sixth with a time of 20:12.47 for Connecticut College.

The Camels scored in three relays in the Pine Tree State Saturday night.

Tori Kenyon (Plymouth, Mass.) Amanda Jacobsen (Stafford Springs, Conn.) Kenzie McFarland (Monroe, Conn.) and Ivana Lamptey (Leicester, Mass.) posted a time of 1:53.25 en route to their third place finish in the 4x200 meter relay.  Gianna Rocchio (Coventry, R.I.), Taylor Gateman (Swampscott, Mass.), Mimi Crawford (Allentown, N.J.) and Franz placed fifth in the 4x400 meter relay with a time of 4:30.51.  In the 4x800 meter relay, Curran, Grace Sheeran (Medina, Wash.), Leah Sabatino (Providence, R.I.) and Emily Winter (Easton, Conn.) posted time of 10:21.76 en route to their sixth place finish for the Camels.

In the men's invitational, the Camels placed seventh in the 10 team field with a score of 32 points.

It was a big night for the 4x800 meter relay team. Sophomore Connor Trapp (Wilmette, Ill.), junior Ben Bosworth (Dorchester, Mass.), Jordan Comeau (Winchendon, Mass.) and Williams cruised to a victory in 8:01.02.  In the 1000 meter run, Trapp earned invitations to the New England Division III and ECAC Championships with his second place finish in 2:31.14.  Bosworth placed 2nd in the one-mile run, earning invitations to the New England Division III, ECAC and All-New England Championships with a time of 4:16.24.

Senior Niall Williams (Scotia, N.Y.) continued to build on his success this year, placing fourth in the 3000 meters with a time of 8:42.63. Williams earned invitations to the New England Division III as well as the ECAC Championship. Freshman Price Day (Harvard, Mass.) placed seventh in the 3000, earning an invitation to the New England Division III Championship with a time of 8:50.17. Juniors Alejandro Hernandez (Miami, Fla.) and Raymond Rich-Fiondella (North Haven, Conn.) placed fifth and sixth for the Camels in the 5000 meter run, crossing the finish line with respective times of 16.11.13 and 16.12.01.

In the 4x400 meter relay, Andrew Peterson (Wallingford, Conn.), Arlo Siegel (Florence, Mass.), Christian Whitaker (Dolton, Ill.) and Nick Fischetti (Groton, Mass.) placed fifth with a time of 3:32.38.
