BOSTON, Mass.--Connecticut College junior Bella Franz of Water Mill, N.Y. posted a time of 4:54.71 to place second in the one-mile run at the All-New England (Division 1, 2, 3.) Championship at Boston University today. It was a school record for Franz, who eclipsed her previous mark by four seconds that she set at Tufts February 6. Franz moved all the way up to #11 on the national performance list with the NCAA Championship now just two weeks away.
In the 3000 meter run, junior Ashley Curran (Franklin, Mass.) posted a season-best time of 10:03.62 with the second fastest run of her career in this event.
In the 4x800 meter relay, sophomore Haley Sykes (Foxboro, Mass.), freshman Eva Brydson (Cape Elizabeth, Maine), junior Anna Guay (Watertown, Conn.) and sophomore Alex Fromme (Carlsbad, Calif.) posted a time of 9:47.09, besting their previous season's best performance by more than 10 seconds.
Freshmen Ivana Lamptey (Leicester, Mass.) and Shannon Kennedy (East Longmeadow, Mass.), along with junior Ashley Bjorkman (Mansfield, Mass.) and Franz posted a time of 4:11.43 in the 4x400 meter relay, running a full 4.5 seconds faster than their previous best finish this winter.
