MEDFORD, Mass.--Connecticut College senior Ashley Curran (Franklin, Mass.) placed third in the 5,000 meter run with a time of 17:23.97 at the Tufts University Cupid Challenge today. Curran catapulted all the way up to sixth place on the national performance list, earning invitations to the New England Division III and NEICAAA (All-New England including D. 1, 2, 3) Championships.
In the one-mile run, senior Bella Franz (Water Mill, N.Y.) moved up to eighth place in the nation with a time of 5:02.02, finishing third for the Camels today. Franz had her ticket punched for the aforementioned NEICAA Championship for Connecticut College.
Freshman Koko Mensah (Orange, N.J.) placed second in the shot put with a throw of 39 feet, nine and one quarter inches. In the weight throw, sophomore Emily Senatore (Norwell, Mass.) placed third with a mark of 43 feet, three and three quarter inches. In the 4x200 meter relay, sophomore Ivana Lamptey (Leicester, Mass.), Leila Alfaro (Charleston, S.C.), Shannon Kennedy (East Longmeadow, Mass.) and Alicia Palmer (Bloomfield, Conn.) placed third with a time of 1:51.59.
In the 60 meter hurdles, Alfaro placed fourth for the Camels with a time of 9.85 seconds. She posted a time of 9.77 seconds in the trials. Sophomore Kaitlin Thomas (Orange, Conn.) placed fourth in the triple jump with a mark of 32 feet and three quarters of an inch. In the 60 meter dash, Lamptey posted a time of 8.44 seconds en route to her seventh place finish for Connecticut College.
