NEW LONDON, Conn.--The Connecticut College Camels posted a 1-3 record at the MIT Invitational this weekend to place 10th in the 13 team field.
The Camels (3-3), ranked #8 in New England opened the weekend with a 3-0 loss to Wellesley College, the third ranked team in New England. The game scores were 25-22, 25-17 and 25-14 in favor of the Blue.
In the second half of their doubleheader, the Camels secured a 3-0 victory against Simmons College. The game scores were 25-16, 25-22 and 25-14 in favor of Connecticut College.
Saturday afternoon, the Camels dropped a 3-0 decision to Springfield College, the second ranked team in New England. The Pride won the MIT Invitational this weekend. In their final match of the weekend, Endicott College outlasted the Camels in five games. The game scores were 22-25, 28-26, 25-22, 20-25 and 15-9 in favor of the Gulls.
Alex Mcdevitt (Medfield, Mass.) buried 26 kills to go with 28 digs, four blocks and three aces in 12 sets played this weekend for the Camels. Caroline Martin (Palo Alto, Calif.) had 20 kills and 24 digs in nine games played. Chloe Ainley (San Joes, Calif.) chipped in with 19 kills, 11 blocks and six digs in 11 games played for Connecticut College.
Sophomore Gabi Taylor (Austin, Texas) buried 17 kills to go with 39 digs in 13 games played for the Camels.
Sophomore libero Jamie Balkin (Glencoe, Ill.) collected 63 digs in 14 sets played.
First year setter Emily Arterbury (Austin, Texas) dished out 82 assists to go with 25 digs in 13 sets played for Connecticut College.
The Camels will visit Roger Williams University this Wednesday night for a 7:00 p.m. match in Bristol, R.I.
