BRISTOL, R.I.--The Roger Williams University Hawks improved their record to 13-0 with a 3-2 victory against Connecticut College (3-4) in a non-conference match played at the Campus Recreation Center in Bristol Wednesday night.
Ranked #1 in New England and #25 in the AVCA National poll, the Hawks triumphed with game scores of 24-26, 25-17, 25-14, 12-25 and 15-9 to protect their unblemished record.
Senior middle blocker Kristie Luczynski (Kensington, Conn.) erupted with 21 kills to lead the hosts up front.
Elizabeth Flaherty (Sloatsburg, N.Y.) and Kristen Boyer (Ephrata, Pa.) chipped in with double-doubles for the winning side. Flaherty registered 14 kills and 13 digs while Boyer added 14 kills and 15 digs in the win.
Senior setter Alexa Armenti (Dix Hills, N.Y.) dished out 51 assists for the Hawks. Rookie libero Darian Tredennick (Houston, Texas) contributed 21 digs for the hosts.
Connecticut College rookie outside hitter Alex Mcdevitt (Medfield, Mass.) buried 17 kills to go with 13 digs en route to a double-double. Gabi Taylor (Austin, Texas) chipped in with eight kills and five digs for the visitors. Chloe Ainley (San Jose, Calif.) had eight kills and six digs.
First year setter Emily Arterbury (Austin, Texas) dished out 42 assists for the Camels.
Sophomore libero Jamie Balkin (Glencoe, Ill.) finished with 23 digs for the visitors.
The Camels will host Wesleyan University this Friday night for a 7:00 p.m. NESCAC match in New London.
