Camels Fall to Amherst & Williams Cunningham Contributes 49 Assists and 12 Digs in Weekend’s Action

WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass.--The Connecticut College volleyball team visited Western Massachusetts to compete in NESCAC matches against Amherst College and Williams College this weekend.

Ranked #9 in New England, the Camels (7-8, 2-3) dropped a 3-0 decision to Amherst Friday night. The set scores were 25-14, 25-20 and 25-18 in favor of the Lord Jeffs. Saturday afternoon, the Camels dropped a 3-1 decision to Williams College, the 2nd ranked team in the region. The set scores were 25-15, 25-16, 22-25 and 25-12 in favor of the Ephs. 

Sophomore setter Kaitlin Cunningham (Ridgefield, Conn.) dished out 49 assists and corralled 12 digs to lead the Camels in the weekend's action.  Sophomore Caroline Martin (Palo Alto, Calif.) chipped in with 19 kills and 13 digs for Connecticut College. Chloe Ainley (San Jose, Calif.) racked up 12 kills, 18 digs and four blocks in the setbacks.

Ella Johnson (Seal Beach, Calif.) registered 13 kills, five aces and five digs for the Camels. Cailyn Straubel (Dallas, Texas) chipped in with 21 digs for Connecticut College. 

The Camels will visit Bowdoin College Friday night for an 8:00 p.m. NESCAC match in Brunswick, Maine.
