NEW LONDON, Conn.--The Connecticut College volleyball team hosted a tri-match with Tufts University and Framingham State University Saturday.
Tufts University earned a 3-2 victory against Connecticut College in the first match. The set scores were 21-25, 26-24, 26-28, 25-12 and 15-12 in favor of the Jumbos.
In the 2:00 p.m. matchup, the Jumbos knocked off Framingham State University in a 3-0 blanking. The set scores were 25-12, 25-10 and 25-16 in favor of the Jumbos.
In the final match of the day, Connecticut College defeated Framingham 3-0 in rematch of their 2012 NCAA Regional matchup played against the Rams in Luce Field House.
The set scores were 25-21, 25-19 and 25-16 in favor of the Camels.
With their sweep on Saturday, Tufts University improved to 7-5 with a 2-1 mark in the NESCAC. Connecticut College moved to 4-7 with a 1-2 record in the NESCAC. Despite their two losses Saturday, the Framingham State Rams are still off to an impressive 12-4 start with a 2-0 mark in the MASCAC.
Tufts senior middle hitter Isabel Kuhel (Brisbane, Calif.) erupted with 16 kills to lead the Jumbos in their victory against Connecticut College. Junior setter Kyra Baum (Boca Raton, Fla.) dished out 43 assists for the winning side. Carolina Berger (Fort Lauderdale, Fla.) added 26 digs.
Connecticut College received 10 kills each from Ella Johnson (Seal Beach, Calif.) and Caroline Martin (Palo Alto, Calif.). Martin added 26 digs in the setback. Emily Arterbury (Austin, Texas) dished out 21 assists while Katia Elisman (Lake Forest, Ill.) added 19 helpers.
In the 4:00 p.m. matchup, Connecticut College was powered by Sam Hunter's (Palos Verdes, Calif.) double-double. The rookie right side hitter buried 11 kills to go with 16 digs. Gabi Taylor (Austin, Texas) contributed with eight kills and eight digs. Elisman had 17 assists while Arterbury finished with 12. Johnson recorded nine kills to go with one block.
