LEWISTON, Maine.--Ella Johnson (Seal Beach, Calif.) buried 15 kills to lead the Connecticut College women's volleyball team to a 3-1 NESCAC victory at Bates College Saturday.
The set scores were 25-17, 23-25, 25-16 and 25-21 in favor of the visitors.
The Camels evened their record at 7-7 with a 2-2 mark in the NESCAC, while the Bobcats fell to 8-8 while remaining winless in NESCAC play (0-4).
Johnson collected her 15 kills with just three errors on 28 swings to hit .429 in the triumph. She added two aces, three digs and three blocks for the winning side. Junior outside hitter Caroline Martin (Palo Alto, Calif.) chipped in with 11 kills, 10 digs and three blocks en route to a double-double for the Camels.
Rookie libero Caroline Branigan (Pacific Palisades, Calif.) registered 10 digs for the victors. Sophomore Emily Arterbury (Austin, Texas) dished out 20 assists while Katia Elisman (Lake Forest, Ill.) added 17 helpers for the winning side.
Bates College sophomore outside hitter Chandler McGrath (Seal Beach, Calif.) posted a double-double with 10 kills and 11 digs to lead the Bobcats in the setback. Nicole Peraica (East Northport, N.Y.) contributed with six kills for the hosts. Junior Laryssa Schepel (Flemington, N.J.) recorded a match-high 15 digs while adding three aces for Bates.
Tess Walther (Santa Monica, Calif.) dished out 16 assists to go with six digs while first year setter Jacqueline Forney (Bloomington, Ind.) doled out 11 assists for the Bobcats.
Both teams will host their next match Friday night, October 10.
The Camels will return home to New London to take on intrastate rival Trinity College for a 7:00 p.m. matchup.
Bates will host Williams College for an 8:00 p.m. NESCAC matchup in Lewiston, Maine.
