JWU Wildcat Invitational: Johnson, McDevitt Honored on All-Tourney Team as Camels Earn Split in Providence Saturday

PROVIDENCE, R.I.--The Connecticut College volleyball team earned a split in its final two matches at the Wildcat Invitational hosted by Johnson & Wales University in Providence today. Senior co-captains Ella Johnson (Seal Beach, Calif.) and Alex McDevitt (Medfield, Mass.) were honored on the All-Tournament Team for Head Coach Josh Edmed's squad.

The Camels (3-1) secured a 3-1 victory against Bridgewater State University in the early match. The set scores were 25-10, 17-25, 25-23 and 25-18 in favor of the Camels. Later on in the day, the JWU Wildcats blanked the Camels, 3-0, with set scores of 25-12, 25-15 and 26-24.
 
Junior Sam Hunter (Palos Verdes, Calif.) had 12 kills to lead the Camels in the win against Bridgewater. McDevitt and Jenny Kellogg (Los Altos, Calif.) both had 11 kills and nine digs for the winning side. Junior Caroline Branigan (Pacific Palisades, Calif.) had 16 digs in the win while rookie setter Grace McGee (Portland, Ore.) added 13 assists for the victors.  Katia Elisman (Lake Forest, Ill.) dished out 29 assists to go with five digs for Connecticut College.
 
In the final match of the weekend, McDevitt had eight kills to lead the Camels. Elisman had 13 assists and four digs. McGee doled out 10 assists while Branigan had 12 digs.
