Volleyball Splits Three-Set Matches With Maine Maritime and Western Connecticut State

NEW LONDON, Conn. – The Connecticut College volleyball team split a pair of home matches against Maine Maritime and Western Connecticut State on Saturday afternoon at the Luce Field House on Saturday afternoon.

Maine Maritime 3, Connecticut College 0 (25-23, 25-22, 25-22)

The Camels dropped three close sets to the Mariners to begin the day. Junior Grace McGee (Portland, Ore.) recorded a double-double with 21 assists and 14 digs, while freshman Bridget Fatse (Trumbull, Conn.) fell just shy of the accomplishment with nine kills and 10 digs.

Connecticut College 3, Western Connecticut State 0 (25-21, 27-25, 25-17)

For the second straight day, Connecticut College rebounded to win its second game in straight sets to defeat the Colonials. Sophomore Emma Hewlin (Los Gatos, Calif.) had 13 kills and hit at a .500 clip by only committing one error on 24 swings, while senior Maddie Rust (Austin, Texas) also reached double-digit kills with 10.

Connecticut College (3-2) next visits Salve Regina on Tuesday, Sept. 11 at 7 p.m.
