NORTHAMPTON, Mass.--(photo is of Camel tri-Captains Emily Winter, Anna Curtis-Heald & Heather Rochford) The Connecticut College women's cross country team placed second out of 18 teams at the Smith College Invitational Saturday.
Amherst College, ranked #8 in the New England pre-season rankings, topped the 18 team field with a score of 42 points. The Camels scored 84 points to place second and were followed be the Wellesley Blue, the ninth ranked team in New England, who scored 100 points.
Alex Fromme (Carlsbad, Calif.) placed fourth to lead the Camels in their strong start to the 2014 campaign with a time of 19:52. Sophomore Ashley Curran (Franklin, Mass.) posted a time of 20:14 en route to her 10th place showing. Emily Winter (Easton, Conn.) was next in 13th place with a time of 20:26.
Nicole Adam (Cheshire, Conn.) completed the course in 21 minutes flat to finish 22nd for Connecticut College. Heather Rochford (Red Bank, N.J.) finished in 38th place with a time of 21:47. Haley Sykes (Foxboro, Mass.) was 45th with a time of 21:57.
Kelsey McGinnis (Somerset, Mass.) was the seventh Camel and 57th runner to complete the course with a time of 22:22.
