WATERFORD, Conn.--The Connecticut College women's cross country team hosted its home invitational at Harkness State Park Saturday.
The Camels placed three of its runners in the top 18 to finish fifth in the 18 team field with a score of 123 points.
Tufts University placed three of its harriers in the top nine to win the invitational with a score of 55 points. Keene State placed second with a score of 97 points. The Stevens Tech Ducks scored 109 points en route to their third place showing.
Stevens junior Amy Regan shattered the 6k course record by 23 seconds to easily win the individual crown with a time of 20:56.
Connecticut College sophomore Ashley Curran (Franklin, Mass.) paced the hosts with her seventh place finish in 22:29. Alex Fromme (Carlsbad, Calif.) completed the race in 23 minutes flat to finish in 13th place. Both Camels landed on the All-Invitational Team.
Junior Emily Winter (Easton, Conn.) checked in with a time of 23:14 en route to her 18th place scoring. Bella Franz (Water Mill, N.Y.) impressed the home crowd in her first race of the season, completing the course in 23:29 en route to a 26th place finish for the Camels. Anna Guay (Watertown, Conn.) registered a time of 24:15 in a 68th place showing for the hosts.
Casey Sullivan (Beijing, China) posted a time of 24:16 to finish in 70th place while Grace Sheeran (Medina, Wash. completed the course in 24:28 as the seventh Camel finisher in 80th place.
