Women's Cross Country Program Announces Season Ending Award Winners

NEW LONDON, Conn.--The Connecticut College women's cross country team hosted its season ending banquet at the home of Page and Diana Owen in Stonington Borough.

On the heels of her third consecutive appearance at the NCAA Championship, senior Ashley Curran of Franklin, Mass. was named the Most Valuable Runner.  Most improved accolades went to sophomore Steph Van Riet of Dover, Mass. while the unsung hero went to junior Micaela Nee of Hanover, Mass.  Hannah Noyes of Vinalhaven, Maine, the third Camel to cross the finish line at the New England Division III Championship was recognized as the Rookie of the Year.

Connecticut College Head Women's Cross Country Coach Ned Bishop announced his leadership team for 2017.  Sophomore Eva Brydson of Cape Elizabeth, Maine and junior Grace Sheeran of Medina, Wash. were named as co-captains for the fall of 2017.

Eight Camels garnered NESCAC All-Academic honors: Ashley CurranDiana Boyer (Northbrook, Ill.), Cayla Condon (Sherborn, Mass.), Anna Guay (Watertown, Conn.), Sam Morse (Rockport, Maine), Kelsey McGinnis (Somerset, Mass.), Nee and Van Riet were all honored on the squad.

McGinnis represented the Camels on the NESCAC All-Sportsmanship Team.

Senior co-captains Ashley Curran and Bella Franz (Water Mill, N.Y.) were honored as All-NESCAC, All-New England Region and as NCAA Qualifiers for the Camels.
