BOSTON, Mass.
– The Connecticut College sailing program completed a busy opening weekend of competition by competing at four different regattas in the Boston area.

The top team performance came from the coed squad at the Hatch Brown Trophy race being hosted by MIT. The Camels placed fifth among 18 schools overall and were led by Senior Tommy Whittemore (West Hartford, Conn.) and junior Margaret Benson (Wellesley, Mass.), who finished fifth out of the A Division.

The Camels also sent coed racers to the Tufts Invitational, where the team placed eighth among 18 institutions. Sophomores Andrew Powers (Rye, N.Y.) and Ashley Breyer (Middletown, R.I.) put forth the best performance by any pair over the weekend by winning the B Division.

The women's program raced at the Regis Trophy regatta hosted by Boston University, placing 14th among 18, and junior Aili Moffet (Jamestown, R.I.) represented the Camels at the NEISA Women's Singlehanded Championships. Junior Hailey Pemberton (Osterville, Mass.) and Elizabeth Davis (Naples, Fla.) posted a ninth-place performance out of the B Division at BU, and Moffet finished 10th among 14 sailors at the singlehanded championship event.

Connecticut College will send coed and women's racers to Dartmouth and Brown while also hosting a regatta on the Thames River next weekend.
