NEW LONDON, Conn. - The Connecticut College coed sailing team finished sixth at the Southern New England Team Race this past weekend at the Coast Guard Academy on the Thames River. In the ten-team event, the Camels competed in head-to-head races in a double round robin format.Â
Despite the fog, senior skippers CJ McKenna (Harwich, Mass.), Tommy Whittemore (West Hartford, Conn.), Walter Henry (Syosset, N.Y.), Will Bedford (Arlington, Mass.) and junior Margaret Benson (Wellesley, Mass.) led the team to successful head-to-heads against Bowdoin and Tufts. The crew included sophomore Cecilia Bohan (Newport, R.I.), juniors Allie Tillinghast (New York, N.Y.), Katherine Wetzel (Osterville, Mass.) and Benson who also contributed to the Conn success.
Connecticut College will next compete March 26-27 at Roger Williams in Bristol, Rhode Island. The women's team will also be hosting a last chance qualifier for the New England Team Race Championship at home.
