Field Hockey Falls to No. 12 Williams; Falvey Scores First Career Goal

WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. – The Connecticut College field hockey team dropped a NESCAC contest to No. 12 Williams by a 5-1 decision on Sunday afternoon at Williamson Field.

Williams (7-1, NESCAC 4-1) scored two quick goals in the blink of an eye. Simone Veale sent in what appeared to be a harmless dribbler from the right side, but Emily Batchelor was able to collect the ball through traffic and slide it past sophomore Jackie Mountford (Sherborn, Mass.) 70 seconds into the contest. Just 1:27 later, Emma Ticknor sent home a pass from Claire Fitzpatrick to double the margin.

The Ephs continued to add to their lead in the second and third quarters. Ticknor finished two passes from Catherine Torres, first in the 24th minute for her second marker of the game and then in the 31st to complete a hat trick and make it 5-0. Camel senior captain Hannah Falvey (Hingham, Mass.) scored for the first time of her career to avoid the shutout in the 37th minute of play, but the initial five-goal hole was too deep for the visitors to dig themselves out of.

Abby Lloyd was credited with the victory for Williams by making one save in 45 minutes of action. The Camels' Mountford was charged with the loss by turning away two shots and allowing four goals before being replaced in the final minutes of the first half.

Connecticut College (2-6, NESCAC 0-5) will return home for the first time in more than two weeks to host Trinity on Wednesday afternoon at 4 p.m.
