Men’s Squash Splits Consolation Matches With Wesleyan and Hamilton at NESCAC Championships

MIDDLEBURY, Vt. – The Connecticut College men's squash team split its matches in the consolation rounds at the NESCAC Championships on Saturday. The Camels were first edged by Wesleyan, 5-4, before wrapping up the tournament with a 7-2 triumph over Hamilton.

Juniors Mikey Rodriguez (New Haven, Conn.) and Samuel Piller (Charlottesville, Va.) as well as Scott Brown (Old Greenwich, Conn.) were all double winners for the Camels. Rodriguez beat his Cardinal opponent at the No. 3 position by set scores of 12-10, 11-3, and 11-8 before rallying to defeat Hamilton's Atticus Jones at the No. 2 spot by marks of 5-11, 11-3, 11-6 and 11-8.

After sweeping his Wesleyan opponent, Piller fought back from two sets down at No. 4 versus the Continentals to win by scores of 8-11, 3-11, 11-7, 11-8, and 11-7. Brown, meanwhile, earned a sweep at No. 6 against the Cardinals and then rallied to win in four in the triumph over the Continentals at the No. 5 position.

Connecticut College (5-9) will next host Lehigh on Saturday, Feb. 9 at 10 a.m.
