NEW LONDON, Conn. – Junior Guillermo Garcia Rincon (Cáceres, Spain) won the No. 1 singles bracket to lead a list of strong performances by the Connecticut College men's tennis team at its home tournament over the weekend.
Garcia Rincon rallied from behind to defeat Trinity's Granville Kaynor in three sets by scores of 4-6, 6-3 and 10-6. Sophomore Henry DeCoster (Greenwich, Conn.) achieved the same feat by capturing the individual crown at No. 3 singles in comeback fashion, defeating Jeremiah Ryser of Wheaton by marks of 5-7, 6-1 and 10-6.
In addition, sophomore Zachary Danz (West Tisbury, Mass.) went a combined 3-1 over the course of the day and most notably teamed up with classmate Brandon Ameglio (South Portland, Maine) to win the No. 4 doubles bracket.
Connecticut College will have the upcoming week off and will co-host another tournament with Coast Guard on Saturday, Oct. 6.
