HARTFORD, Conn. – Sophomore Henry DeCoster (Greenwich, Conn.) won his singles match in three sets to help lead the Connecticut College men's tennis team to a 5-4 win over Trinity on Sunday afternoon.
With the teams in a 4-4 deadlock, DeCoster took down Dylan Powell at No. 4 singles by set scores of 6-2, 6-7, and 6-3. Junior Guillermo Garcia Rincon (Cáceres, Spain), freshman Julian Tien (Barrington, R.I.), and senior Will Cannon (Fairfield, Conn.) also earned singles wins to contribute to the Camels' triumph after the visitors dropped two of the three doubles matches. Garcia Rincon most notably rallied to win from the No. 2 spot by marks of 6-7, 6-2, and 6-4, while Tien also teamed up with sophomore SangJin Song (Roslyn Heights, N.Y.) to earn an 8-6 victory at No. 2 doubles.
Connecticut College (6-7, NESCAC 1-4) will next visit neighboring Coast Guard for a 3:30 p.m. matinee on Wednesday afternoon.
