DEARBORN, Mich. – Connecticut College's Scott Mason (Wyndmoor, Pa.) has been named to the Google Cloud District II Academic All-America Team in men's cross country and track & field, as announced by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) on Tuesday afternoon. He was chosen to the all-district first team and is now eligible for Academic All-America laurels.
Mason, an economics major, is most notably a two-time All-American in the 3,000-meter steeplechase by placing sixth at the 2017 NCAA Division III Outdoor Track & Field Championships and fifth at the 2018 NCAA meet this past weekend. He also won the event at the NESCAC Championships this spring. Indoors, the distance standout most notably finished 11th in the 3,000-meter run during the winter season.
In addition, Mason had a standout junior campaign this past fall as the Camels' top harrier. After registering individual runner-up finishes at the NESCAC Championships and NCAA New England Regional Championships, he earned All-America accolades by finishing 22nd overall at the 2017 NCAA Cross Country Championships.
Following today's announcement, Connecticut College has five student-athletes who have made the CoSIDA Academic All-District Team in their respective sport during the 2017-18 academic year.
