INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – Junior distance runner Danny Aschale (Cambridge, Mass.) of the Connecticut College men's track & field team has been selected to compete in the 3,000-meter run at the NCAA Division III Indoor Track & Field Championships, as announced by the national organization on Sunday evening.
Aschale is seeded 11th among 20 competitors in his premier event. His season-best time of 8:18.90, which ranks 13th nationally, was recorded at the Boston University David Hemery Valentine Invitational on Friday, Feb. 8. Aschale will be competing at an NCAA championship event for the fourth time as an individual after most recently garnering All-America laurels in cross country by placing 35th among 280 runners at the national meet this past fall.
The championship meet will take place at the Reggie Lewis Center in Boston on Friday, March 8 and Saturday, March 9. Aschale will first compete in the preliminary race of the 3,000 on Friday afternoon at 1 p.m. If successful, he will race in the finals on Saturday afternoon at 4:55 p.m.
