NEW LONDON, Conn. – The Connecticut College men's track & field program will trek to Middlebury to compete at the NESCAC Championships on Saturday.
The Camels' top student-athletes will once again be entered into the middle distance and distance events. Junior Danny Aschale (Cambridge, Mass.), an NCAA qualifier who boasts the top 5,000-meter run time in the conference this spring, will race in the 10,000-meter run this weekend and look to improve on last year's fourth-place finish. Freshman Ben Vazquez (Millington, N.J.) has registered the fourth-fastest time in the 1,500-meter run and is the biggest threat to score among the team's newcomers.
In the field, the team is headlined by seniors Mike D'Onofrio (East Haven, Conn.) and Jonathan Handy (Hingham, Mass.). D'Onofrio has the fourth-best mark in the javelin this spring, while Handy will be a threat to score in the hammer.
The championship event begins on Saturday morning at 9:00 a.m. Live stats and a webcast will be available for fans who can't make it to the meet in person.
