Event Groups: Men's & Women's Throws
Carl Reichard has been with the Connecticut College track & field program for the past two decades. He brings tremendous coaching experience to his work with the team’s shot put, discus and hammer throwers.
Reichard has coached at local high schools for over 30 years, where his teams have won numerous league and state titles. He has coached four high school All-Americans and three NCAA Division III All-Americans. Reichard has been honored by the National High School Athletic Coaches Association as their National Girls’ Track & Field Coach of the Year.
Furthermore, Reichard was a standout football player and a three-time national qualifying thrower at Amherst College. He owns a personal best mark of 171-feet, 11-inches in the hammer and has been the top American finisher in that event three times at the Master’s World Championships.
Several of Reichard's throwers were nationally ranked in Division III in 2017, including Lauren Kennedy '17 (shot put), Emily Senatore '19 (discus) and Koko Mensah '20 (shot put, discus). Mensah was the NESCAC and New England Division III individual champion in the shot put during her rookie campaign and advanced to the 2018 NCAA Division III Outdoor Track & Field Championships with a school-record throw of 45-8.50. The women’s throwers racked up 29 points in the three events he oversees at the NESCAC Championships this past spring.
