LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Senior Danny Aschale (Cambridge, Mass.) represented Connecticut College at the NCAA Division III Cross Country Championships at E.P. "Tom" Sawyer State Park on Saturday morning.
Aschale navigated the 8,000-meter circuit in 25:06.2 to place 48th overall among a competitive field of 280 runners. The senior started off strong and stood in 22nd place at the 3k mark and 24th during the midway point of the race. However, he fell back to 44th at the 6.4k checkpoint before eventually becoming the 48th harrier to hit the tape.
Despite the overall outcome, today's race capped what was still a remarkable career for Aschale. The senior ended his cross country slate as one of five individuals who has garnered NCAA All-America laurels for finishing 35th at last year's championship meet. He also earned All-NESCAC honors every year, which included three consecutive top-four finishes.
Aschale will look to return to the NCAA Championships when he continues competing in distance events as a member of the Camels' indoor and outdoor programs this winter and spring.
