NEW LONDON, Conn. – The Connecticut College coed sailing team will compete at the ICSA National Championships this week in Newport, Rhode Island.
Connecticut College features an extremely young and talented squad with a 20-player roster consisting of 12 freshmen, three sophomores, five juniors, and no seniors. The team earned the region's final qualifying spot for the prestigious event by placing ninth at the New England Intercollegiate Sailing Association Championships on Apr. 28.
The four-day event, which begins on May 28, will be sailed out of the Museum of Yachting of Fort Adams State Park in Newport. Over the first two days, the Camels will be among 36 schools competing in the semifinals among two groups. If successful, they will be among 18 schools to compete in the finals for the national crown on May 30 and May 31.
