POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. – The Connecticut College women's squash team beat host Vassar and Haverford in convincing fashion on Saturday. The Camels defeated the Brewers, 7-2, and the Fords by a 6-3 decision.
The Camels got notable performances from junior Denise Bonilla (New Haven, Conn.) and freshman Leslie Gonzalez (New York, N.Y.) in the Vassar victory. Bonilla won at the No. 3 position by scores of 11-4, 12-10, and 12-10, and Gonzalez triumphed in straight sets from the bottom of the lineup by marks of 11-2, 11-4, and 11-4.
In the Haverford match, senior Davis Lemay (Harwich Port, Mass.) pulled out a tight four-set victory at the No. 4 spot by scores of 11-8, 11-8, 9-11, and 11-8. Sophomore Birgitta Salvesen-Quinn (Cambridge, Mass.), meanwhile, rallied for a four-set win over her opponent at No. 7 by marks of 11-13, 11-7, 11-7, and 11-1.
Connecticut College (3-1) will next face Dickinson and Williams at Yale on Sunday.
