NEW LONDON, Conn. – The Connecticut College women's tennis began its spring season with an 8-1 setback against Bates on Saturday afternoon at the Charles B. Luce Field House.
The Camels picked up their point at No. 3 doubles, as sophomores Skylar Morgan (Pittsburgh.) and Meredith Kenny (Scottsdale, Ariz.) downed Lauren Hernandez and Sydney Byrnes by an 8-3 score. Classmate Paige Braithwaite (Skillman, N.J.) also put forth a strong effort in No. 6 singles before ultimately falling by set scores of 5-7, 7-5, and 4-10 to Byrnes in a marathon match which was decided with a tiebreaker.
Connecticut College (1-2) will fly to Texas to face six opponents over spring break. The Camels will first face Schreiner in Kerrville on Monday, March 11 at 10:00 a.m. CST (11:00 a.m. EST).
