SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – The Connecticut College women's track & field team competed at the New England Division III Championships at Springfield College on Saturday. The Camels finished in a tie for 26th place with four points.
After junior Shannon Kennedy (East Longmeadow, Mass.) earned All-New England honors in the pentathlon by breaking the school record and finishing eighth, the distance medley relay team matched the feat by placing sixth overall in 12:52.31. Junior Eva Brydson (Cape Elizabeth, Maine), freshman Riley Peragine (New Milford, Conn.), junior Caitlin Teare (Yarmouth, Maine) and senior Grace Sheeran (Medina, Wash.) earned All-New England status as members of the relay.
Another notable effort was made by the 4x200-meter relay team consisting of sophomore Leila Alfaro (Charleston, S.C.), freshman Sarah Clark (Cheshire, Conn.), sophomore Alicia Palmer (Bloomfield, Conn.) and Kennedy. The group hit the tape in 1:49.84, which ranks second on the program's all-time list.
Select members of the women's track & field team will compete at a final qualifier meet next weekend.
