BRIDGEPORT, Pa. – Three Connecticut College women's water polo standouts were named to the CWPA Division III All-Conference Team, as announced by the league office. Sophomore captain Stephania Lopez (Chicago, Ill.) made the first team, while Brooklynn Hayes (Granville, Mass.) and Ginny McCool (Delray Beach, Fla.) landed on the second team.
Lopez is being recognized for the second straight season after making the all-conference second team and being recognized as the league's rookie of the year in 2018. She led this year's squad in goals (81), assists (30) and steals (35) and ranked second on the team in field blocks (8). In addition, she was named to the all-tournament for the second straight season.
Hayes was the team's second scoring threat after Lopez, tallying 39 goals along with 14 assists and 14 steals. She most notably recorded five goals and one assist in the season finale against Penn State Behrend, leading the Camels to a 13-9 win in the seventh-place game of the CWPA Tournament.
McCool was arguably the team's most complete player and showed her versatility by emerging to become the team's top goalie in addition to producing on the offensive end for the Camels. She made 82 stops in 34 quarters between the posts while also providing 13 goals, 12 assists, 30 steals, and seven field blocks in the field.
Connecticut College loses just one player to graduation and is expected to return eight letterwinners, including its three all-conference players, next season.
