Box Score WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass.—Williams College raced out to a 36-21 halftime lead and went on to defeat Connecticut College 68-43 in a New England Small College Athletic Conference women's basketball game played in Western, Massachusetts Saturday.
The Ephs improve their record to 12-2 with their third straight win. The Camels fall to 6-9 with a 1-3 mark in NESCAC play.
Claire Baecher (Brunswick, Maine) poured in a game-high 15 points to go along with nine rebounds to lead the Ephs. Kellie McDonald (Danvers, Mass.) chipped in with 13 points and four rebounds in a 4-for-4 shooting performance. Danny Rainer (Marlborough, Mass.) reached double digits with 10 points and six boards for the winning side.
Connecticut College junior Tara Gabelman (Irvington, N.Y.) netted 12 points and grabbed seven rebounds to lead the visitors. Jocelyn Summers (Highland Park, N.J.) and Kayleen Murray (Litchfield, Conn.) both had nine points for the Camels. Kaitlyn Cresencia ripped down nine rebounds for the Camels.
The Camels out-scored Williams 14-to-11 at the foul line and were out-rebounded by a slim 37-to-36 margin. But the visitors shot just 27% from the field and converted just 1-of-11 shots from long distance.
The Camels will head north on Route 95 next Friday to visit Bates College for an 8:00 p.m. NESCAC game in Lewiston, Maine.
