Camels Top Monmouth, Fall to Hopkins at Division III Championship Saturday

BALTIMORE, Md.--The Connecticut College men's water polo team (3-18) split its first two matches at the Collegiate Water Polo Association Division III Championship hosted by Johns Hopkins University in the Charm City of Baltimore.

The fourth seeded Camels upended fifth seeded Monmouth College 16-14 in the early match. Later on in the day the host Blue Jays from Hopkins outlasted the Camels in a 21-7 triumph. The Camels will play MIT tomorrow morning at 10:15 in the third round of action. 

Returning to his home state, senior Robert Spencer (Chevy Chase, Md.) erupted with eight goals, three steals and nine earned ejections to lead the Camels in Saturday's action.  Nick DiLeo (Coopersburg, Pa.) chipped in with six goals, four assists, 10 steals and three earned ejections. Jason Robb (Winnetka, Ill.) checked in with four goals, one assist, two steals and four earned ejections.

William Bogle (Weston, Mass.) finished with two goals, one steal and a pair of earned ejections. Aidan Kelso (Washington, D.C.) scored two goals to go with three steals and three earned ejections for the Camels. Karan Das-Grande (Menlo Park, Calif.) sandwiched a goal around two assists to go along with one steal. 

Sophomore net-minder Daniel Albers (Aloha, Ore.) made 12 saves and added four steals in five quarters of action in the cage Saturday.

Senior Sam Buchman (Northfield, Ill.) made seven stops to go along with five steals in three quarters of play for the Camels.
