Box Score NEW LONDON, Conn.--Aly Boyle (Westford, Mass.) poured in a career-high 13 points to lead the Connecticut College women's basketball team to a 74-69 victory against the University of Saint Joseph at Luce Field House Saturday.
Boyle had 10 of her 13 points in the second stanza, converting 4-of-5 shots from long distance in the triumph. She added three blocked shots, two rebounds and two assists in the win.
The Camels even their record at 2-2 with the victory, while the Blue Jays fall to 3-2 in the setback.
Liz Malman (Mendham, N.J.) dumped in a team-best 18 points to go with five assists and three rebounds, shooting a sizzling 6-for-9 from the field and 3-of-4 from beyond the arc. Tara Gabelman (Irvington, N.Y.) contributed with 10 points and 16 rebounds en route to a double-double. Carlee Smith (Willimantic, Conn.) and Jenna Lovett (Tolland, Conn.) both had nine points for the winning side.
Smith dished out a game-high six assists while Lovett hauled in six board in a 4-for-5 shooting performance. Willa McKinley (Westport, N.Y.) provided some clutch shooting in 19 minutes of action, registering eight points for the hosts.
Mary Hyde (Derby, Conn.) netted a game-high 24 points for the Blue Jays, adding six rebounds and three assists. Hyde was 8-for-15 from the field and 4-for-6 from long distance. Brianna Ferraro (Waterbury, Conn.), Devon Diliberto (Waterbury, Conn.) and Heather Framski (Prospect, Conn.) all contributed with 11 points for the visitors.
Lindsey Dionne (Portland, Conn.) added eight points in the setback.
The Blue Jays stormed out to a 37-32 lead at the half. Hyde carried the hot-hand for the visitors, scoring 17 points in the opening 20 minutes of action.
But the Camels battled back to take a 55-54 lead when Caitlin Cimino (Falmouth, Maine) converted a field goal with 9:57 remaining. However, Diliberto buried a triple with 7:44 remaining from the left side to put the visitors back on top 60-58. The Camels would score the next six points to take a four points lead. Malman knocked down a trey from the right side to push the Camel advantage to 64-60 with 4:32 remaining.
The Blue Jays kept scrapping and would simply not go away. But with 1:34 to play, Boyle knocked down another three-ball for the Camels from the left side, extending the Camels' advantage to 72-67.
The Jays were able to pull within 72-69 but could not get any closer.
Connecticut College enjoyed a 46-to-32 advantage on the backboards.
