CAMBRIDGE, Mass.--The Connecticut College men's water polo team visited Harvard University to compete in the Northern Division Championship Saturday.
The seventh seeded Camels (3-26) dropped all three of their matches but there was a great piece of news for the team. After missing close to two months of action due to illness, sophomore standout Carlos Heros (Key Biscayne, Fla.) returned to the pool.
The Camels dropped a 17-1 decision to second seeded St. Francis in the early match. Heros netted his 27th goal of the season and earned two ejections in the match. Robert Spencer (Chevy Chase, Md.) had five earned ejections and one steal in the setback.
Henry McMillan (New York, N.Y.) chipped in with three steals and a blocked shot. Senior Sam Buchman (Northfield, Ill.) turned aside 14 shots in the cage to go with his five thefts.
Later on in the day, the Camels dropped a 16-5 decision to the fifth seeded Gaels of Iona.
Heros had two goals, two steals and one block. McMillan registered one goal, one assist, and a blocked shot to go with a pair of steals and two earned ejections. Aidan Kelso (Washington, D.C.) checked in with one goal, one block, one steal and one earned ejection.
Senior Jason Robb (Winnetka, Ill.) contributed with one goal, one assist, one steal and one earned ejection. Buchman recorded six stops and added five steals in the contest.
In the night-cap, the Camels dropped a 13-4 decision to sixth seeded Fordham.
Buchman stopped 13 shots in the cage and grabbed two steals. He also chipped in with a full-court goal for the Camels.
Heros scored twice and had three earned ejections. McMillan contributed with a single tally for Connecticut College.
Spencer leads the Camels with 55 goals scored and 74 earned ejections. Heros has piled up 33 goals, 27 steals and 22 earned ejections. Nick DiLeo (Coopersburg, Pa.) has accounted for 31 goals and 32 assists to go along with a team-best 56 steals and 17 earned ejections.
Buchman has made 136 saves and grabbed 24 steals. Daniel Albers (Aloha, Ore.) has contributed with 129 saves in the cage.
