Middlebury 1, Connecticut College 0 Nichols Stops Two Shots for Camels

MIDDLEBURY, Vermont –(Middlebury Athletic Communications) Middlebury earned a 1-0 win over Connecticut College (2-1, 0-1) in its first home game of the season. The Panthers (1-1, 1-1) return to action next Saturday at Bowdoin.

Middlebury had a chance in the 18th minute of play, but Harper Williams' service from the right side was cut off by Camel keeper Max Nichols. Conn. College had three nice crossing passes broken up midway through the first half, as the game remained scoreless.

The Panthers scored the game's only goal at the 36:28 mark of the first half. Court Lake sent a ball towards goal on a restart from the right side, where Deklan Robinson headed the ball home for his first of the year.

Connecticut College had a nice opportunity early in the second half, but a header on goal by Kevin O'Brien was saved by Ethan Collins after a nice feed from Matthew Bitchell. The Camels turned up the pressure midway through the half with a lot of possession and a pair of corner kicks, but could not score the equalizer.

Collins made three stops to earn the win, while Nichols had a pair of saves between the posts. Middlebury held a slim 6-5 shots advantage, with the corner kicks knotted at 4-4.
