Heros Nets Nine Goals in Northern Division Doubleheader for Camels

NEW LONDON, Conn.--The Connecticut College men's water polo team continues to improve under the direction of recently appointed Head Coach Matt Anderson.

Saturday afternoon, the Camels played their closest match against MIT in recent history, falling 13-11. In the nightcap, Connecticut College dropped a 22-15 match to Harvard.

MIT improved to 8-9 with their victory, coupled with an 11-9 victory that was realized earlier in the day at Brown.

The Crimson from Harvard improved to 13-5. The Camels are 2-7.

The Camels also celebrated the accomplishments of seniors Nick DiLeo (Coopersburg, Pa.), Robert Spencer (Chevy Chase, Md.) and Samuel Siegel-Wallace (Philadelphia, Pa.) with a pre-match ceremony. Siegel-Wallace, a member of the Williams Street a cappella group sang the national anthem.

MIT junior driver Ory Tasman (Orlando, Fla.) scored four goals to lead the Engineers to their win. Zach Churukian (Menlo Park, Calif.), Zach Nelson (La Jolla, Calif.) and Kale Rogers (Newberg, Ore.) all finished with two scores for MIT. Sophomore Nolan Kruse (Orcutt, Calif.) made seven saves in the cage.

Connecticut College junior Carlos Heros (Miami, Fla.) netted four goals for the hosts. DiLeo and Henry McMillan (New York, N.Y.) scored two goals each. Daniel Albers (Aloha, Ore.) turned aside six shots in goal.

Junior Ben Zepfel (Newport Beach, Calif.) paced the Crimson from Harvard with a five goal performance.  Junior Austin Lee (Fullerton, Calif.) and Viktor Wrobel (Malmo, Sweden) each contributed with four markers.

Spencer erupted with five goals for the hosts. Dylan Pinckert (Long Beach, Calif.) scored twice. Matthew Wagman (Needham, Mass.) made two saves in the cage.

Connecticut College will host Brown University Sunday afternoon for a noon-time Northern Division matchup in the Whaling City.
