NEW LONDON, Conn.--Sophomore Liz Malman (Mendham, N.J.) poured in a career-high 30 points to lead the Connecticut College women's basketball team in a convincing 73-47 victory against Albertus Magnus College at Luce Field House Monday night.

Malman was 11-for-16 from the field and converted 5-of-6 shots from beyond the arc.  She added seven rebounds and two assists in the triumph.

Connecticut College improved its record to 4-1 while the Falcons slipped to 2-4 with the setback.

Only seven Camels were active in this contest but everyone contributed to the victory.  Senior point guard Carlee Smith (Willimantic, Conn.) dished out 10 assists in the opening half of action. She moved into sixth place on the program's all-time leader list with 286 career assists.

Mairead Hynes (Mahopac, N.Y.) posted a double-double with 14 points and a game-high 16 rebounds for the Camels.  Shaniqua Shaw (Worcester, Mass.) chipped in with 13 points and five rebounds in a 5-for-7 shooting performance.  Kaitlyn Cresencia (New Providence, N.J.) finished with eight points and seven rebounds for the hosts.

Albertus Magnus College junior Kelsey Pendagast (Shelton, Conn.) scored 12 points to lead the visiting Falcons.  First year forward Olivia Bolden (South Windsor, Conn.) finished with nine points in the contest for the visitors. Chelsea Sherrod (Bridgeport, Conn.) added eight points and seven rebounds in the setback.

Malman sparked the Camels on a 15-3 run in the early stages of the contest, supplying 11 of her team's points during the scoring surge. With 13:44 remaining in the first stanza, Smith assisted Malman for a three from the top of the key to cap the rally for the hosts.

Later on in the half with 7:08 remaining, the Camels took a 29-11 lead when Smith fed Amelia King  (San Francisco, Calif.) for a nifty looking half hook.

Shaw closed out the half with a bucket in the low post and the Camels carried a 47-21 lead into the break. Smith assisted on the field goal to close out the half with the 10 helpers.

The Camels continued to pull away in the second stanza en route to the 73-47 victory.

Connecticut College continued its strong start on the backboards this season, finishing with a 44-to-32 advantage on the boards.
