Box Score BOSTON, Mass.—Sophomore Ashley Anctil (Manchester, N.H.) scored twice to lead the Connecticut College women's hockey team in a 7-0 blanking of UMass-Boston Tuesday night.
Senior blue-liner Leigh Getz (Clifton Park, N.Y.), Steph Izzi (West Cornwall, Conn.) and Lily Connolly (Duxbury, Mass.) all contributed with a goal and an assist for the winning side.
Sophomore Michaela Igo (Sandwich, Mass.) and Katlyn Paiva (Rehoboth, Mass.) contributed scores in the offensive uprising.
Senior Kelsie Fralick (West Chester, Pa.) finished with 25 saves for the Camels.
UMass Boston senior Kailyn Burke (Franklin, Mass.) registered 23 saves in the setback for the Beacons. Moe Bradley (Swampscott, Mass.) collected 13 saves in relief duty.
Connecticut College improves to 6-0-3 with the victory while the Beacons fall to 5-3-3.
The Camels enjoyed a 43-to-25 advantage in shots and skated off both of their penalties flawlessly. They lead the nation with a 97% success rate (31-for-32) on their penalty kill this season.
Getz opened the scoring with 2:19 remaining in the first period when she buried a shot from the blue line. Amelia Dineen (Arlington, Mass.).assisted on the score.
Just 33 seconds later, the Camels doubled their lead. Izzi did a terrific job on her forecheck to steal a puck near the blue line. She skated in for a one-on-one situation and made a nifty looking fake on the goalie's stick side and snuck one past Burke at the far post side of the goal.
Anctil supplied the only goal at the 2:47 mark of the second period. Kate Kohl (Chelmsford, Mass.) dished out her fifth assist of the season with the marker.
The Camels continued to pull away in the third, using goals from Anctil and Connolly in a 25 second span to build a 5-0 advantage with 18:53 remaining.
Igo and Paiva closed out the scoring and the Camels celebrated with the 7-0 win.
