"I'm so proud of our team and their effort this evening," Connecticut College Head Women's Basketball Coach Brian Wilson said. "What a fantastic performance against one of the top teams in the country. I am so happy for our student-athletes - they were relentless on both ends of the floor tonight and earned a signature victory over a ranked team."
"We had high energy on the defensive end from start to finish without any prolonged lapses," Wilson asserted. "This was the first time this season we were able to put two really good halves of basketball together against an opponent as deep and talented as Williams. We've talked all year about playing to our own high standard and we've done it at times but never for an entire 40 minutes like we did tonight. We showed ourselves what we are capable of achieving."
The Camels improve their record to 13-10 with a 5-4 record in the NESCAC. They can finish as high as fifth place depending on the outcome of Saturday's game around the region.
Williams slips to 19-4 with a 5-4 record in conference play. They will finish as high as fifth place or as low as sixth in the NESCAC Standings.
Lauren McCall (Natick, Mass.) paced the visitors with 13 points, shooting 6-for-10 from the field. MaryKate O'Brien (Lafayette Hill, Pa.) reached double figures with 10 points, connecting on 4-of-6 shots from the field and was a perfect 2-for-2 from long distance.
