McKinley Nets 10 Points in Close Loss to FDU-Florham

NEW LONDON, Conn.--Connecticut College is hosting the Coaches Versus Cancer Tip-Off in Luce Field House this weekend.

In the early game, FDU-Florham (1-1) secured an 83-73 victory against Connecticut College. The Mustangs from Mount Ida College (2-1) downed Newbury in the nightcap by a count of 83-73.

The Camels will take on the Nighthawks from Newbury College in the third place game at 1:30 p.m. FDU-Florham will clash with Mount Ida for the Championship at 3:30 p.m.

Jayson Hughes ( poured in a game-high 22 points to lead the Devlis from FDU-Florham in their victory. Steve Herdman and Derek Leohner chipped in with nine points each.

Senior Bo McKinley (Westport, N.Y.) netted 10 points in the game for the Camels. Brandon Carson (Glenmoore, Pa.) ignited the Camels off the bench with some timely defense, four rebounds and one assist. Junior Zuri Pavlin (New York, N.Y.) had six points and six rebounds for the hosts.

"Congratulations to FDU florham," Connecticut College Head Men's Basketball Coach Tom Satran said. "They made every play they needed down the stretch and that turned out to be the difference. Our team is obviously disappointed because it seemed like we had them at one or two moments but we weren't consistent enough to earn the win."

Tyrell Jackson and John Oliver (North Babylon, N.Y.) scored 16 points each to lead the Mustangs of Mount Ida.  Devin Johnson (Manchester, Conn.) exploded with a game-high 26 points in the loss for Newbury. Kenny Ramos (Roxbury, Mass.) posted a double-double with 20 points and 14 boards, shooting 10-for-15 from beyond the arc.

The Coaches vs. Cancer program unites the American Cancer Society with our coaches in the fight against cancer. Donations made at this weekend's games will go directly to the lifesaving efforts of the American Cancer Society to fund research, provide free programs for people with cancer and their caregivers, advocate for better cancer screenings and treatment, and provide education and information for all those who seek it.
