Box Score STATEN ISLAND, N.Y.--The Connecticut College men's basketball team secured a 90-80 victory against Westminster College in the third place game at the 14th Annual Tournament of Heroes hosted by the College of Staten Island Wednesday.
Junior co-captain Zuri Pavlin (New York, N.Y.) and sophomore Lee Messier (Narragansett, R.I.) netted 17 points each to lead the Camels in the triumph. Pavlin added eight rebounds and three assists to his stat-line. He was 7-for-14 from the field and a perfect 3-for-3 at the charity stripe.
Pavlin averaged 21.5 points and 7.5 rebounds in the two games and was recognized for his efforts on the All-Tournament Team. Messier was 3-for-7 from long distance and a perfect 6-for-6 at the foul line.
The Camels improved their record to 6-3 with the triumph while the Titans fell to 2-8 with the loss.
David Labossiere (Stoneham, Mass.) dumped in 15 points and grabbed four steals, connecting on 5-of-8 shots from the field. Tyler Rowe (East Hartford, Conn.) added 13 points, four rebounds and four assists for the winning side. Daniel Janel (Fresh Meadows, N.Y.) ripped down 13 rebounds to go with his six points for the Camels.
Junior Colin Pascoe (pictured, Somers, Conn.) added eight points and four rebounds in 17 minutes of play, converting on 3-of- 4 shots from the floor.
"We are fortunate to have won against a very well coached and determined Westminster team," Connecticut College Head Men's Basketball Coach Tom Satran said. "We had so many different guys contribute which is great to see. I think that can really be a strength of ours as we continue to improve."
Senior Charlie Wallander (Pittsburgh, Pa.) poured in 18 points to lead the Titans in the setback, shooting an impressive 7-for-9 from the field. Jason Pilarski (Pittsburgh, Pa.) chipped in with 14 points for Westminster. Cameron Poszgai (Windham, Ohio) finished with 12 points and eight caroms in the loss.
Connecticut College will host the Coast Guard Sunday afternoon for a 3:00 p.m. game in Luce Field House.
