WILLIMANTIC, Conn. – Senior guard Kristina Forsman (Newington) had the first double-double of her 81-game Eastern Connecticut State University women's basketball career and the Warriors defeated Connecticut College 65-47  Wednesday night at Francis E. Geissler Gymnasium.

After freshman forward Malread Hynes (Mahopac, NY) completed a three-point play with a free throw for Connecticut College (14-6), Eastern (14-6) scored the final 12 points of the game over the final four minutes to post its tenth win in its last 12 outings.

Forsman connected on two of her game's three three-pointers in the final four-minute stretch and senior forward Shannon McCourt (New Fairfield) hit a jumper and two free throws as Eastern defeated Conn for the seventh time in the last eight meetings.

Leading by two at halftime, Eastern got 30 points and 18 rebounds from Forsman, McCourt and junior forward Jill Ritrosky (Pittsfield) in the second half.  The Warriors finally gained the momentum for good with a nine-point run that broke the fourth and final tie of the game midway through the second half. Ritrosky, Forsman, senior guard Taylor McBride (Willimantic) and McCourt all contributed points in that stretch, with  McCourt converting a key three-point play in that stretch.

Eastern commanded a 46-24 advantage on the boards, including a 19-4 margin on the offensive glass.

Forsman , Ritrosky and McCourt all had double-doubles in the game. Forsman finished with 13 points and a career-high 11 rebounds, Ritrosky 16 points and 13 rebounds and McCourt 15 points and 11 rebounds. Ritrosky and McCourt combined on 11 offensive rebounds and McBride led all players with six assists.

Connecticut College got 16 points and five rebounds from junior center Jenna Lovett (Tolland) and 14 points and seven rebounds from freshman six-foot freshman forward Malread Hynes (Mahopac, NY). The Camels scored the final five points of the first half over the final 40 seconds, with sophomore guard Liz Malman (Mendham, N.J.) canning two free throws and senior forward Kaitlyn Cresencia (New Providence, NJ) connecting on a three-pointer at the buzzer which pulled the Camels to within a pair at the break.
