WATERVILLE, Maine -- Connecticut College and Colby College combined for six goals in the first half as the Camels went on to a 5-2 NESCAC men's soccer victory on Sunday.
Chris Lockwood had one goal and two assists for the Camels, while Mark Leon (pictured) had two goals. Pat Devlin and Colin Patch had the other goals for Connecticut College (3-2 overall, 1-2 NESCAC).
Lucas Pereira scored his first collegiate goal for the Mules (2-3 overall, 1-2 NESCAC). Colby had the other score on an own goal by the Camels.
Lockwood put the Camels on top for good at 9:10 of the first half when he volleyed in a cross from Matthew Bitchell. Leon followed with his first goal of the game from Lockwood at 19:25 on a tap-in.
The Mules cut the lead to 2-1 thanks to the own goal by Connecticut College. A long throw-in by Cam Clouse was mistakenly headed by a Camel player into his own net at 21:10.
Leon and Lockwood connected again just a minute later on Leon's second goal for a 3-1 margin. Lockwood hit the crossbar on his shot and was immediately headed in by Leon.
Pereira had a left-footed shot for his score at 26:11 to make it 3-2, but the Camels had the final goal of the half at 39:50 from Devin on a breakaway.
Patch closed out the scoring at 57:12 when the Mules were unable to make a clear out of their own defensive end.
Austin DaCunha stopped four shots for the Camels.
John Pappas made six saves for the Mules.
