NEW LONDON, Conn. – The Connecticut College men's water polo team dropped its home opener to Brown, which is ranked 14th nationally at the Division I level, by a 12-6 decision on Wednesday evening.
Connecticut College (0-4) was competitive at the beginning of the match, as the teams traded goals throughout the first quarter and the start of the second. But after sophomore Rahul Gill (Bethesda, Md.) tied the contest at 3-all with his first goal of the game, Brown (7-4) responded by rattling off three straight goals to take a 6-3 lead at halftime and never looked back.
Sophomore Arturo Freitas (Weston, Fla.) scored two goals to pace the Camel offense, while Brown's Aidan Reilly tallied a game-high three markers.
Connecticut College will be back in action when it travels to Washington & Jefferson for a tournament over the weekend. The Camels will first face Mercyhurst on Saturday, Sept. 23 at 10:20 a.m.
