Men's Basketball Drops NESCAC Contest to Wesleyan

MIDDLETOWN, Conn. – The Connecticut College men's basketball team dropped a road NESCAC contest to Wesleyan by a 98-59 score on Sunday afternoon.

Sparked by back-to-back threes from Kevin McDonald and Sam Peek, the Cardinals rattled off the first eight points of the game before the Camels cut the deficit to six points at 10-4 to creep back. Wesleyan, however, increased its lead to 39-19 with 6:08 in the first half by most notably getting four trifectas from Antoine Walker and carried a 47-31 lead into the break.

The Cardinals then started the second half on a dominating 18-3 run over the opening five minutes to make it 65-34. Connecticut College never recovered from the hot opening stretch by the hosts, who maintained a 30-point advantage for the remainder of the contest en route to posting their 11th win of the season.

Gabe Ravetz led Wesleyan (11-5, NESCAC 2-2) with 19 points off the bench. Walker netted 15, and Peek and Preston Maccoux finished with 13 points apiece to boost a Cardinal squad which shot 59.4 percent from the floor.

Junior Daniel Draffan (Hamden, Conn.) led Connecticut College with 17 points, while senior Patrick Lazor (West Hartford, Conn.) recorded 11 points and grabbed six boards. Freshman Ben McPherron (Weston, Mass.) also scored 11 points in the losing effort.

Connecticut College (3-12, NESCAC 0-3) will next host Trinity on Saturday afternoon at 3 p.m.
