NEW LONDON, Conn. – Connecticut College will be inducting eight individuals into its Athletic Hall of Fame at a ceremony scheduled to occur during Fall Weekend in October.
Over the upcoming weeks, we will reveal the Class of 2019, which consists of four exemplary former student-athletes who have brought distinction to themselves and Connecticut College through their athletic achievement, commitment, sportsmanship, and leadership in athletics.
Today, the second inductee we are revealing and recognizing is Michael LeDuc '14 of the men's cross country and track & field programs.
Head Coach Ned Bishop on Michael LeDuc '14
"Michael LeDuc is without question the most accomplished athlete in the history of our cross country and track & field program. His three national titles, nine All-America awards, multiple NESCAC and New England titles, and numerous school records speak for themselves. The things that truly set Mike apart, however, were his unflinching dedication to training and his incredible loyalty to his teammates, friends, and coaches. Mike had - and still has - a wonderfully close relationship with Jim Butler, who coached him to all of those great achievements on the cross country trails and on the track. It was my good fortune to play whatever small role I could in supporting Mike's efforts, and I am eternally grateful for all the ways in which he raised the bar for future Camels!"
Michael LeDuc's Athletic Hall of Fame Bio
A standout in cross country and track & field, Michael LeDuc '14 is one of the most decorated student-athletes in the college's history. He was a 15-time NCAA Division III Championship qualifier, a nine-time NCAA All-American, and a three-time national champion.
LeDuc won the national cross country championship in 2013 as well as the 3,000-meter steeplechase at the 2013 and 2014 outdoor track & field championships. During his career, he established eight school records, and as a senior, he won the steeplechase at the prestigious Penn Relays against all Division I competition.
An outstanding student, LeDuc was also recognized as the 2014 NCAA Division III Academic All-America® Athlete of the Year in cross country and track & field by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA), and he is the only Connecticut College student-athlete to be named an Academic All-American three times in his career by the national organization.
LeDuc graduated magna cum laude with a bachelor's degree in Botany before earning an NCAA Postgraduate Scholarship and completing a master's degree in Biology from Washington University in St. Louis.
