HARTFORD, Conn. - The Connecticut College men's soccer team triumphed over Trinity on Tuesday by a score of 2-0. This marked the fifth straight win for the Camels and their eighth overall this season. In addition, the team took over first place in the NESCAC standings with the victory.
Junior captain
Steve Yeonas (McLean, Va.) led the way for the Camels with his first two goals of the season. The first came in the 28th minute, as he took a rebound off of a saved shot from sophomore
Matt Scoffone (Thornton, Pa.) and found the back of the net. The second opportunity stemmed from a beautiful display of passing in the 33rd minute from Scoffone and fellow sophomore
Jack Marvel (Marion, Mass.), who then found Yeonas in front of the net to set up his second score of the game.
The second half was quiet offensively, with each team unable to add to the 2-0 scoreline despite a few chances on both sides of the field.
Camel goalkeeper Sam Maidenburg (South Orange, N.J.) earned the win for the visitors, as he saved both of the shots he faced on goal. Bernardo Simoes took the loss for Trinity (2-9, NESCAC 0-7) after he allowed two goals and made seven saves. The Camels led the game in both shots and corner kicks by totals of 17-4 and 4-2, respectively.
Connecticut College (8-2, NESCAC 6-1) will travel to Brunswick, Maine on Saturday for another NESCAC matchup against Bowdoin at 12:00 p.m.
