Men’s Water Polo Concludes Tournament Action At Harvard With Losses To Salem And Mount St. Mary’s

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – The Connecticut College men's water polo team concluded competing at the Harvard Invitational Tournament with a pair of losses to Salem and Mount St. Mary's on Sunday. The Camels first loss to Salem, 13-3, before dropping a contest to the Mountaineers by a 19-10 decision.

In the Camels' first game of the day, Salem had a 7-0 advantage after the first quarter and scored the first eight goals of the game. Christian Jacobsen (North Palm Beach, Fla.) put Connecticut College on the board at the 5:41 mark of the second, but the program would come no closer.
 
In addition to Jacobsen, the Camels got markers from seniors Lucas Verrilli (Evanston, Ill.) and Mike Gertsik (Brooklyn, N.Y.) in the setback.

The offense came alive for the Camels in their final game of the tournament, but Mount St. Mary's, which competes at the Division I level, could not be stopped on the other end. The Mountaineers built up a comfortable 10-2 advantage at halftime en route to the win.
 
Jacobsen was a bright spot for the Camels by netting a career-best six goals in the contest.
 
Connecticut College (0-7) will next play its first home matches of the season when it hosts the CWPA Division III Championships next weekend and beginning on Saturday. The schedule should be released on Monday once seeds for the seven competing schools are determined.
