Volleyball Sweeps Tri-Match Against Fisher And Framingham State

NEW LONDON, Conn. – The Connecticut College volleyball team swept a tri-match against Fisher College and Framingham State on Saturday afternoon. The Camels first downed Fisher, 3-0, before beating the host Rams by a 3-1 score to conclude the afternoon.
 
Connecticut College 3, Fisher College 0 (25-23, 25-13, 25-17)
 
After a tight first set, the Camels cruised past the Falcons in the second and third frames to seal the convincing win.
 
Natasha Shrivastava (San Diego, Calif.) came just shy of a double-double with 31 assists and nine digs, while senior Avery Light had nine kills and eight digs. Sophomore Nicolette Marino (Verona, N.J.) recorded three aces, and freshman Julia Dailey (Charlottesville, Va.) added 15 digs.
 
Connecticut College 3, Framingham State (23-25, 25-21, 25-20, 25-11)
 
Despite narrowly dropping the first by just two points, Connecticut College recovered and won the next three to beat the Rams. The 14-point victory in the last frame, which was capped by a Marino ace, put an exclamation point on the strong afternoon.
 
Junior Christina Leduc (Mendon, Mass.) and sophomore Emma Wheeler (Meredith, N.H.) each registered a double-double to lead the way for the Camels. Leduc contributed 16 kills and 14 digs, while Wheeler notched 12 kills and 16 digs. Light racked up 15 kills, and Shrivastava ended the game with 42 assists and eight digs.
 
Connecticut College (7-10) will next play its final home match of the season when it entertains Albertus Magnus on Wednesday evening at 7 p.m.
